The Nigerian Government is said to be making efforts to put an end to the current strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwjiuba said at the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force briefing, the Guardian reports.

He was optimistic that there would be compromise before the resumption of Universities.

In a related report, the Federal Government gave an update that Monday, 16th September would be when all schools across the country would be fully reopened for academic activities.

Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba during the daily briefing on COVID-19 said that once the PTF assesses all the data, it would inform Nigerians when it is safe to reopen schools.

He also noted that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is still on strike which was started before the lockdown in March.
