El-Rufai Denies Paying Kidnappers Ransom By Proxy

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has denied paying ransom to kidnappers in the state, saying that his government did not appoint intermediaries to negotiate with criminals.

El-Rufai insisted that the position of his administration of not negotiating with bandits or paying ransom still stood.

The clarification by the governor followed speculations that his administration upset the ransom paid by families of the 10 Kaduna airport workers who were freed by the bandits recently.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated at the weekend: “No intermediary has been appointed by Governor el-Rufai to negotiate with bandits.
